An ETF packs many stocks into one basket that trades like a single stock. Buy one share of a KOSPI 200 ETF, and you've effectively invested a little in 200 of Korea's biggest companies.

An ETF that simply tracks the whole market (an index) is an index ETF. The strategy is 'just earn the market average' — and surprisingly few professionals beat that average over the long run.
